Much more will certainly be said about the heart under para. III (a). Scientologists define the spiritual essence of humankind as the "thetan," which amounts the conventional concept of the heart.


The reactive mind is thought to keep engrams that return to the fetal state and get to better back even into past lives. The theological idea of "engrams" births close similarity to the Buddhist doctrine of the "strings of complexity" which are held over from previous incarnations and which impede the accomplishment of knowledge.
